Pen-y-bryn Lodge is Oamaru's and the Waitaki District's sole New Zealand Luxury Lodge, offering the ultimate in comfort and unobtrusive service in one of New Zealand's most historic landmark buildings. Constructed in 1889 as a private home, the lodge is today considered to be Australasia's largest single-storey wooden dwelling at over 920 square metres. Despite this, we have only five guest rooms, so our guests can look forward to a level of privacy and relaxation that other accommodations cannot match.

In addition to offering superior accommodations, Pen-y-bryn is also known for its gourmet meals, offered in our ornate dining room. Made with vegetables gathered from our own gardens or from local farms, and with all components made in our own kitchen, your meal will be prepared and presented with great care, designed to suit your own tastes and preferences. Dinner is available only to in-house guests between October and April, while between May and September we also offer dining to casual diners. In all cases, reservations are absolutely essential. And whether you dine with us or not, you will be welcome to join us for pre-dinner canapés and cocktails, giving you a chance to sample the local award-winning wines or our locally crafted beers.
